This page explains how PxlGuide scores and evaluates every smartphone, laptop, gadget, and accessory we cover, so you know exactly what our scores and verdicts mean.
Hands-On Tested vs. Researched
Every review or comparison is labeled with one of two statuses:
- Hands-on tested: we have physically used the product ourselves.
- Researched: based on official specifications, retailer listings, and credible published sources, including expert video reviews, without physical hands-on use.
We never describe a product as “tested” unless it was genuinely used hands-on.
Our Scoring System
Where applicable, we score products from 1-10 across up to five categories:
- Value Score — how much you get for the price, specifically in the UAE market.
- Performance Score — day-to-day speed and responsiveness.
- Camera Score — photo/video quality (phones and cameras).
- Battery Score — real-world battery life.
- Long-Term Usability Score — software support, durability, and expected lifespan.
These combine into a single Final PxlGuide Score shown in the Final Buying Decision box at the end of each review.
UAE-Specific Evaluation
Alongside performance, every applicable review looks at UAE price and retailer availability (Amazon.ae, Noon, Sharaf DG, Jumbo, Emax), UAE vs. international warranty status, Middle East version differences, 5G band compatibility, and after-sales support in the UAE.
How Often We Update Reviews
Prices and availability are checked and refreshed periodically. Every article shows a “last updated” date separate from its original publish date.
Independence
